Ryan O'Neal disappointed by Oscars' Farrah Fawcett snub

Farrah Fawcett's longtime partner, Ryan O'Neal, has joined other Hollywood figures including Jane Fonda and Roger Ebert in expressing dismay that Fawcett was left out of the "In Memoriam" segment of Sunday's Academy Awards.

"There is no comment other than we were disappointed that she was not included," a rep for O'Neal tells People.

Fonda and Ebert both Tweeted about the snub during the broadcast. "No Farrah Fawcett in the memorial tribute? Major fail," Ebert wrote. "And where was Farrah Fawcett? She should have been included #oscars #FAIL," wrote Fonda.

The "In Memoriam" portion of the broadcast features a montage of film-industry figures who have passed away in the previous year. Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences spokeswoman Leslie Unger says the segment can only honor so many people.

"Every year it's an unfortunate reality that we can't include everybody," she tells the Associated Press.

Even before the show, Academy executive director Bruce Davis spoke about the difficult process of creating the segment. "It is the single most troubling element of the Oscar show every year," he told AP last week. "Because more people die each year than can possibly be included in that segment."

Davis explained that he and a small committee narrow an initial list of more than 100 people down to about 30. "It gets close to agonizing by the end," he said. "You are dropping people who the public knows. It's just not comfortable."

Fawcett, who died last June at age 62, was primarily a TV actress, though she did appear in a number of feature films.

Sandra Bullock: Post-Oscar Oprah visit

On cloud nine, Sandra Bullock was all smiles as she left the Oprah Winfrey show in Los Angles on Monday (March 8).

Fresh off of her Oscar triumph, the brunette beauty strolled out to her awaiting limo after chatting on the popular US talk show.

After taking home a plethora of awards already this year, Bullock received the Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in "The Blind Side" Sunday night.

During her acceptance speech, Sandra movingly thanked her mother for "reminding her daughters that there's no race, no religion, no class system, no color, no sexual orientation that makes us better than anyone else. We are all deserving of love."

Angelina takes Shiloh to a party on Oscar Sunday

Despite Internet chatter, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt never made it to Sunday's Academy Awards. So where were they?

Overseas in Venice.

On Sunday, Jolie, 34, took daughter Shiloh, 3 1/2, to a children's party -- along with proud pop Pitt, 46, Maddox, 8, Pax, 6, and Zahara, 5. (The Jolie-Pitt family is in Venice as Jolie films The Tourist with Johnny Depp.)

Shiloh recently raised eyebrows after debuting a pixie cut.

But child psychologist Lawrence Batler tells UsMagazine.com Shi's style-- which includes $140 boys' jeans -- is normal. "Kids try on roles," he tells Us. "How she dresses reflects what interests her now."

Akon is very participative, I love his songs: Shah Rukh

After 'chiggy-wiggy' gal Kylie Minogue, Rap star Akon is winning hearts in Bollywood. The singer is on a whirlwind tour to India to record a song for Shah Rukh Khan`s next film 'Ra.1' and is staying with the actor as his special guest. Talking about the international star, SRK shared with a news daily, "Akon is on a rushed 3-day visit. He will perform at the launch of a new product of a company whose energy drink I endorse, and on Tuesday and Wednesday, he will record a song with Vishal Shekhar for Ra.1."

"There are 2 versions of the song, one in English and the other in Hindi, and Akon wants to sing in Hindi. Though he's Senegalese by birth, he sings in different languages. I don't see why he can't manage Hindi. Akon will be adding his own bit to Vishal Shekhar's composition. He is very participative - I love his songs," the actor further said.

Shah Rukh further praised the singer, "When I met him recently in New York for the first time, I was floored by his niceness. Such a big international star but so down-to-earth. I asked him if he would sing for me and he said, 'anytime'. Everyone including Kareena Kapoor who has heard the song has loved it."

Shah Rukh also wants to show his recent release, 'My Name Is Khan' to Akon. "Akon was in Cairo when MNIK released there. He saw the hoardings and has shown interest in watching it. Insha Allah, I'll screen my film for him."

Walters regrets interviewing Martin

Veteran broadcaster Barbara Walters regrets trying to force Ricky Martin to open up about his sexuality in a 2000 interview because the question may have ended his career.

She fears the "inappropriate" questioning may have had an affect on Martin`s pop career.

"In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was. A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now I feel it was an inappropriate question," contactmusic.com quoted her as saying.

At the height of his career, Walter demanded to know if he was gay and now admits it is the one interview she regrets in her lengthy career.
