Mark
Wahlberg gets a star on the Walk of Fame... just don't
mention Marky Mark
It's
rare to find a successful star who doesn't regret the jobs
they took on as a struggling actor.
But
while roles in toothpaste commercials are easily deleted
from resumes, there's no forgetting Marky Mark.
Now
an Oscar-nominated actor, Mark Wahlberg began his career
as a 90s rapper.
This
morning, as he was honoured with a star on the Hollywood
Walk of Fame, he still couldn't forget his musical past.
'I
don't miss those days,' he told Variety. 'Although
occasionally a show like Glee does some of my songs, which
is nice.
'But
I have no involvement with any of that now.'
After
starting his career as a rapper and singer, Wahlberg
became a successful Calvin Klein underwear model, then
moved into acting.
This
morning the Oscar nominee got down on his hands and knees
to kiss the floor as he accepted his star.
The
Departed star, 47, attributed his success to rediscovering
his faith.
'I
was raised around the Church, but then I strayed off and
started hanging out with guys in the neighbourhood.
'When
I got into trouble, I turned to God. Once I started to
refocus my faith, really good things started happening for
me.
'And
even when bad things happened, it was a lot easier to deal
with. It's become the most important part of my life.'
Wahlberg
was nominated for an Oscar for his role is the 2006 film
The Departed alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
He
is also executive producer of the hit HBO show Entourage,
which is in its 4th season and is in development to be
turned into a feature length film.
But
Wahlberg says his family is his proudest achievement.
He
and wife Rhea Durham married in August last year and have
4 children together, Ella, 7, Michael, 4, Brendan 20
months and Grace 6 months.
Rahul
punches, Dimpy walks out, walks in
Amid
high drama, Kolkata-based model Dimpy Ganguly walked out
of her four-month-old TV marriage with Rahul Mahajan,
accusing him of ''punching, kicking and dragging'' her by
hair only to return home after an apparent patch-up.
Dimpy,
22, married Rahul, 36, son of late BJP leader Pramod
Mahajan, with much fanfare on the Imagine TV reality show
"Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" in March this year.
"Rahul
beat me up early on Thursday morning after waking me up to
know the contents of a message that had beeped on my
phone. When I asked him to go back to sleep, he flew into
a rage and began hitting me. He punched, kicked and
dragged me by hair," Dimpy said.
Dimpy
showed bruises on her shin and right and left hands. Her
left cheek was also swollen and she had a lump on her
head. The model, who left home vowing never to return, told
reporters that she had had a "conversation" with
Rahul, who expressed regret. Dimpy returned to the Mahajan
residence in Worli in the afternoon today.
"Rahul
has apologised. He regrets his action sincerely. I am sad
at what happened," Dimpy said, adding "I haven't
recovered from what happened."
"I
am extremely upset and hurt," Dimpy said, adding,
"I need some time alone to recover."
Asked
about the future of her marriage, the model said she did
not want to comment further and needed time to think
things over.
"Till
that time I want to be left alone. Right now this is all I
can tell you," she said.
Dimpy
reportedly decided to talk things over with Rahul at the
behest of his family.
Rahul
could not be immediately reached over phone for his
comments and did not respond to SMSes.
This
is the second time that Rahul, who is also involved in a
drug abuse case, has been accused of domestic violence.
His
first wife Shweta Singh, who was his childhood friend, had
accused him of physically abusing her. The couple got
divorced in 2008 after which Rahul participated in Colors'
reality show "Big Boss". He continued to be in
the limelight for his closeness with co-contestants Monica
Bedi and Payal Rohatgi.
Incidentally,
Rohatgi too alleged harassment by Rahul, saying he has
been calling her asking for a second chance.
"I
just don't want to be harassed anymore. That's about it. I
don't want to speak to him. He is a married guy,"
Rohatgi said.
However,
Dimpy's co-contestant Nikunj Malik on the reality show,
seemed less sympathetic to Dimpy's plight.
"The
kind of charges that Dimpy has pressed on Rahul, they
sound very childish...If she had such a fear for her life,
she would have reported to the police rather than going to
the media," said Nikunj, who was a finalist on the
show.
Ellen
DeGeneres quits "American Idol"
Pulling
the plug after just one season, Ellen DeGeneres will no
longer be taking a seat in the judge's booth on
"American Idol".
Releasing
a statement on Thursday, Ellen told, "A couple months
ago, I let FOX and the American Idol producers know that
this didn't feel like the right fit for me."
She
continues, "I told them I wouldn't leave them in a
bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until
they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the
panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my
work schedule became more than I bargained for."
The
daytime talk show host finishes, "I also realized
this season that while I love discovering, supporting and
nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people
and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience
working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had,
I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be."

Jennifer Lopez to become judge on American Idol
Is
Jennifer Lopez adding a new job to her resume?
An
industry source tells People that the singer-actress has
closed a deal to become a permanent judge on American
Idol's season 10. "It's true," says one insider.
"She's excited about it."
The
news comes the same day that Ellen DeGeneres announced she
was stepping down from her position as Idol's newest
judge. The talk show host announced her departure, saying,
"It was a difficult decision to make, but my work
schedule became more than I bargained for."
According
to another source, Lopez's longtime manager, Benny Medina,
orchestrated the deal. Lopez, 41, mom of twins Max and
Emme, will join judges Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi on
the panel. She previously served as a guest mentor to
contestants in 2007.
Simon
Cowell also announced his departure from the show earlier
this year.
Fox
has not officially announced any replacements for Cowell
or DeGeneres, and had no comment about whether Lopez would
be joining the show.

A carpenter
was giving evidence about an accident he had witnessed.
The lawyer for the defendant was trying to discredit him
and asked him how far away he was from the accident. The
carpenter replied, "Twenty-seven feet, six and
one-half inches." "What? How come you are so
sure of that distance?" asked the lawyer. "Well,
I knew sooner or later some idiot would ask me. So I
measured it!" replied the carpenter.
